In order to instill public confidence and to identify possible
savings or the need for increased revenue, the Wake County
Board of Commissioners and the Wake County Board of Education
jointly established a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) to
review the operations budget of the Wake County Public School
System. The underlying goal of the CAC will be to determine
the appropriate level of funding to ensure progress toward
having 95% of Wake County students achieve at or above grade
level.
Both the Wake County Board of Education and the Wake County
Board of Commissioners each selected 7 members of the committee.
The co-chairs were jointly appointed by agreement of the chairs
of the Board of Commissioners and the Board of Education.
A designee for each chair was also appointed as an ex-officio,
non-voting member.
