About Us

The Curriculum and Instruction Department operates within the Instructional Services Division of the Wake County Public School System. The staff, organized as instructional technology, elementary, middle and high school teams, work collaboratively with school leadership representatives to support the implementation of the NC Standard Course of Study (SCoS) and best instructional practices.

Based upon school needs, program administrators and coordinating teachers design, schedule and provide professional development and consultative services related to the teaching-learning process. Staff share current trends and research related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment with schools through regular meetings with instructional resource teachers, department chairs, assistant principals, and principals. Additionally, C&I staff provide guidance and support in the implementation of federal, state, and local policies related to instructional programs. Department staff also provides recommendations for textbooks, software, and educational specifications for schools.
